Celebrity? Says Who?

This post on Mel Gibson’s firing from The Hangover 2 made me think. Finally, a celebrity is dealing with real-world ramifications of inappropriate behavior. If a “normal person” was misogynistic, anti-Semetic, and alcoholic – in front of the people who paid their salary – they’d be out of a job. That’s fair.

But looked at another way, IS it fair? As the blog points out, what about Mike Tyson? He’s raped and bitten chunks out of people, yet nobody kicked him out of the first Hangover movie.

Since it’s our viewing that’s paying their salaries, I say it’s our responsibility to sit in judgment of these people. But where’s the line? I’d have drawn it well before Mike Tyson or Mel Gibson. Wouldn’t most people?
